Statement

Still-life and portrait genres collide in the Dogs with Hats series, with a nod to the world of Margaret Keene's big-eyed waif paintings. Headpieces place the dogs in a social context, marking the division of public and private space, while acting as a sign of ornamentation, protection, concealment and/or bereavement.
